Editing Blog

The Music video is finally complete! Editing is done and the process was to say the least, fun. The outcome is something my group and I are very happy about. The transitions turned out smoothly and the clips fit well together. To begin the filming process, we had to dump the film into pinnacle studios. After this, we watched most of the film and selected the scenes that we thought would fit best. Our editing process had to do a lot with our story board. When we were inputting the scenes we picked them out in order of what our story board looked like. We did a good job on matching our film and the story board very closely. The first scene with the curtains opening, to the last scene with the camera focusing on the sun, went very smoothly. Cutting the scenes were time consuming and indecisive. Our clips from the camera were pretty long so we had to pick the part we thought fit the best. For the dancing scenes, we picked a scene that we felt was the most serious and flowed with the music. The only thing I would say, personally is that we look awkward in some of the dancing but since we are not professional actors, it was not my main concern. The scene that I talked about in my last blog when we peaked around  the tree to create a cheesy and romantic feel, turned out amazing! It made me proud to see the clip work out with the song well.
My favorite part of the editing part was making the film black and white. It took some time as we had to individually select each scene and put the black and white effect onto it.  After it was complete, it made the film look good since it completed the old fashion look. We edited in a couple of fade ins to keep the transitions smooth. There was one moment where in order to fit in for the time frame, we needed to put in another clip. We decided to go with another scene where we went from one location to another. Throughout editing, we did not have many troubles or technical difficulties. The biggest problem we had was probably deciding what clip to put into the video. However, when it came to exporting and sending the video is when the trouble started. It was nothing major, but some of the clips turned out very shaky after exporting. Overall the editing process went well, and we accomplished what we intended to.

filming blog- continuing

Filming is done and this is the second blog for it. We did not do a second day of filming. The one day that we completed our filming seemed to suffice. During our filming, we had a hope to complete everything in one day.
This is a summary of how our filming day went:
We had about 7 different scenes that we shot. The first included the opening actors, myself and Victoria. We came out of stage curtains and began dancing. Then Emily, the person who filmed shot us running down the stairs, with hopes to jump cut into another scene. After filming us running down stairs, holding hands, we also ran up the stairs to bring us back to the stage within the video. We Then shifted outside. The view was nice and would compliment the song choice. We decided to use the trees and the scenery to our advantage. Since the song was a love song, we wanted to display a sense of love between the actors. We did a cheesy scene that i have seen in many movies. Victoria and I, hid behind the trees and popped out and smiled at each other. It was supposed to have a romantic vibe to it. The next couple of scenes were thought about on the spot. We saw a nice area, with an open roof and long benches with paintings on them. We did a quick shot of us jumping on top of the bench and then swirling around. To be totally honest, the dancing, with no music was kind of awkward but comical. The last shot was also scenic and romantic. There was a spot in the school where there were nice wooden benches spread out within grass, flowers and trees. The sunlight hit perfectly onto the benches so we decided it would be the perfect way to end the music video. Emily got many angles to guaranteed a great shot. She filmed us holding hands, staring into the sun and then she cut to the sun. We wanted to incorporate different camera angles into the film, to make the editing interesting.
The purpose of creating this music video with a romantic feel to it was to match the song. The one twist we did decide to do was shying away from old fashion views. Most romantic songs from the 1900's included a women and a man dancing. Since it is 2019, we decided to use two women to show a romantic love song. This helped us modernize our music video. However, we still want to keep the gist of the old fashion song and music video by making the film black and white.
